Our membership

We have a fully paid membership of more than 450 doctors and dentists, with an affiliated spouses forum consisting of the spouses of members and an equally large and active youth forum of young doctors and medical and dental students.

SLMDA UK is a non- political, non-racial organisation respecting equality and diversity without any religious affiliations.
Our main aim is to assist undergraduate, postgraduate medical & dental education in Sri Lanka.

Our mission

Inaugurated in 1982, Sri Lankan Medical and Dental Association in the UK (SLMDA), formerly Sri Lankan Doctors Association (SLDA), is the largest charitable organisation of professionals from a Sri Lankan background in UK.

SLMDA spends £16800/yr for new library books for the 14 Medical and Dental libraries in Sri Lanka.

SLMDA Awards 5 research grants worth £2500 annually for upcoming junior researchers in Sri Lanka.

SLMDA provides an annual bursary of £7000 to support medical and dental students facing financial need.
