Stand with Sri Lanka for the flood victims

Acknowledgement from Sri Lanka Medical Association

The President
Sri Lanka Medical and Dental Association in the UK
United Kingdom

Dear President,

Re: Appreciation for Financial Contribution Towards Restoration of Dialysis Services at District General Hospital, Chilaw

On behalf of the Sri Lanka Medical Association (SLMA), I wish to convey our sincere appreciation and gratitude to the Sri Lanka Medical and Dental Association in the UK for your generous financial contribution towards the restoration of essential renal services at the District General Hospital (DGH), Chilaw.

We wish to inform you that the contribution amounting to LKR 3,957,566.25 has been approved for allocation towards the repair and recommissioning of five (05) broken Fresenius haemodialysis machines at DGH Chilaw. This intervention forms part of a broader restoration programme with a total approved allocation of LKR 5,373,650.38, implemented in collaboration with Australian donor funds.

The restoration of these dialysis machines will be instrumental in re-establishing uninterrupted, life-saving haemodialysis services for patients with end-stage kidney disease in the Chilaw region, particularly following the significant infrastructure damage sustained by the hospital.

For your records and transparency, we have attached herewith:
•
The request letter from the Director, District General Hospital, Chilaw, and
•
The quotation from A. Baur’s & Co. (Pvt) Ltd, outlining the scope and cost of the proposed repairs.

Once again, we extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to the Sri Lanka Medical and Dental Association in the UK for your commitment and generosity towards strengthening renal care services in Sri Lanka. We look forward to continued collaboration in future humanitarian and professional initiatives.

Yours sincerely,

Dr.Isshani Fernando

Honorary Secretary
Sri Lanka Medical Association
