SLMDA Spring Scientific Meeting : Sunday 4th May 2025
Instructions for submitting abstracts
Thank you for your interest in submitting an abstract(s) to the SLMDA 2025 Annual Scientific Meeting. The meeting will be from 9am to 2pm. It will consist of three or four guest lectures by experts in their fields and several Junior presentations as follows:
- 3-6 Oral presentations (8 min presentation of powerpoint slides, 4 min for questions)
- 6-12 Poster presentations
For your abstract to be considered, please adhere to the following guidelines:
Font: Times New Roman
Font size: 12, single line spacing
The body of the abstract MUST NOT exceed 250 words
Please DO NOT include the names of the authors, institutions or any tables/graphs/figures or
references within THE body of the abstract.
The abstract must be submitted as a word document (using the template given below)
Please send the word document to [email protected] and [email protected], on or before the closing date – 31st March 2025.
Selection criteria:
- Quality of the presentation- Higher marks for completed studies with clear methodology, good analytic approach and results relating to the intended aim.
- Importance of the study- Significant scientific contribution to the field.
- Novelty/originality/interesting idea.
- Relevance- to the SLMDA (overseas/external support to Sri Lanka, either positive or negative)
The anonymised abstract will be assessed by the selection committee whose decision on whether to accept your abstract and as to the most suitable type of presentation, will be final.
Accepted abstracts will be published in the “Proceedings book” and you would be able to cite this document. The Founders’ prize and runner up prizes will be awarded for both the oral and poster presentations
