Get rid of your Winter Blues

The next eagerly awaited social event in the SLMDA calender is a Barn Dance organised by Dr Champa Sumanasuriya. Please download the Barn Dance flyer (please note: this is a 1.5Mb pdf document) to see details pertaining to this exciting event. These events are a lot of fun and are usually over subscribed. Please book early to avoid disappointment. The proceeds will be used to support an ongoing worthy charitable project in Sri Lanka

The SLMDA AGM 2011

The SLMDA Annual General Meeting, Scientific Sessions including Youth Forum sessions and the evening Social Event are scheduled for 30 April 2011.

Amendments to the Constitution of the SLMDA will be discussed at the AGM. These amendments which are proposed by Dr Uditha Jayatunga and seconded by Dr Rasieka Jayatunga are as follows

1. Deletion of the existing item 2.2

2. Addition of an ammendment, 2.5 as follows.

"To facilitate sharing of professional knowledge, expertise, technological advances and research matters with colleagues in Sri Lanka."

These will be taken up for discussion at the AGM.

As usual, this will be an academically stimulating as well as a socially enjoyable day. Here is the programme for the day. Please book early to avoid disappointment

URGENT. Please update your membership details

A proposal to increase the annual subscription to thirty pounds was adopted unanimously at the 2008 AGM. The membership has been advised by letter formally by the Treasurer and the appropriate form for changing the standing order details have also been sent. Please return the forms ASAP. Download extra forms for updating Standing Orders if needed

It was also decided to consider the annual subscription as a charitable gift aid donation to SLMDA. This qualifies for tax concessions for the Association as well as the membership. The members have been requested to submit A Gift Aid Form to the treasurer together with the standing order update forms.

Announcement

The 30th Anniversary celebrations of the Postgraduate Institute of Medicine, Colombo, Sri Lanka - 27th - 29th April

To commemorate the 30th Anniversary, the PGIM is organizing Academic Sessions to be held from 27th to 29th April 2011. The event will begin with an Alumni Day on the 27th of April 2011. There will be several symposia, plenary & guest lectures and free paper sessions on the next two days. The Alumni Day hopes to bring together postgraduate trainees of the PGIM, including Sri Lankan expatriates in the UK. Professor Rezvi Sheriff would like to invite you to participate in this landmark event of the PGIM.
